I guess by "both games" you are referring to Assault on Dark Athena as well. >The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay (2004) = both games are surprisingly very good!Īnd here we agree once more. Just didn't enjoy the ending out of nowhere.

If you don't like strategy in your shooting, yeah it'd be boring I guess. >Star Wars: Republic Commando (2005) = tried it this year, very boring. As a pure sci-fi shooter, Project: Snowblind has some great ideas and memorable fights. It's only "horrifyingly bad" if you expected Deus Ex out of it. >Project: Snowblind (2005) = horrifyingly bad. It's such a cathartic ridiculous vacation of a game though. >Postal 2 (2003) = fun for an hour and then the novelty is over. >Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (2002) = best MOH However, Far Cry Instincts: Evolution sucked hard. The mutant powers you get were so much fun. Instincts was MUCH funner than the original Far Cry. Just like I enjoyed Far Cry up until the mutants.Ĭan't agree with you there at all. >Crysis (2007) = as the mutants ruin Far Cry, aliens ruin this game. the most boring blueprint for the genre ever conceived. >Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) = Activision proudly presents. The cover is a pile of bullets for a reason. However it's very narrow-minded (cocaine addled Rambo shooting), anybody looking for a good plot, unusual atmosphere, or sci-fi/magic stuff. I freaking LOVED Black though! Best pure aught shooter on console in the '00s. It's closer to five hours long the first go on normal. I doubt this game is three hours long the first time through, unless you played it on easy. >Black (2006) (Xbox) = decent, only like 3 hours long. I enjoyed Thief 3 more than Thief 2, but not as much as Thief 1. I wouldn't consider this an FPS at all, but I can see where you're coming from. It does suffer from some consolization issues though. I thought it was a lot better than most reviewers of the time did. I forgot about this one, but I agree with you. MP1 is a 9/10 for me, but that's not shabby considering how picky I am. These Halo games on Xbox were a lot of kids first online FPS experiences though, so I understand why they were popular.Īnother one we agree on.

I think I was too old and too experienced with PC FPS to be impressed with these when they debuted. I thought they were a 6/10 and 7/10 respectively.

I played and beat Halo 1 & 2 co-op with a friend many years ago. (I own but not have not tried the Metro games yet.) >STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl = excellence I played DOOM 3 on PC years back and was bored mightily. I'm going to give that version a try on 360 someday. >The BFG edition makes it better with good changes.

Have you ever played any of the ARMA, Ghost Recon (as in PC GR), or Operation Flashpoint games? The AI in those series make F.E.A.R.'s look paltry in comparison. >awesome enemy AI and just pure bliss to play

I still want to play MP3, and haven't yet. You can tell that Miyamoto and Iwata were not involved with MP2 (they were with MP1 and MP3). I got really far into MP2, but the further I played it, the worse it got. Well it's first person and you shoot things. I don't really think it fits alongside these. >Metroid Prime sticks out like a sore thumb. But there's some common ground there too. Yeah Xeogred, you're right, we have some dissenting opinions on '00s FPS. So there's my opinions, what's yours? Got any favorite '00s FPS? Any '00s FPS stories you want to share? Thinking of trying a '00s FPS but want some fellow HRG members' opinions first? Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 The Operative: No One Lives Forever (2000) The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay - Developer's Cut (2004) Soldier of Fortune: Platinum Edition (2001) <-My all time favorite '00s PC FPS. (Or I'm just too lazy on a hot summer Sunday.) Some of these "PC" FPS also appeared on console, but I played 'em on PC. But it's too much stuff to just write up a paragraph for every game. If anyone wants more of my opinions on any of the games I've listed, just let me know, and I'll explain what I like, or don't like about any given game. I have beaten other '00s FPS than what appears in these lists, but not all of them made the cut. (You can mention 2009 FPS games, just don't go into a lot of detail.) Yes sometimes our 10 year policy makes for silly instances like this! So in my lists, I'm only listing games I not only enjoyed, but also beat. Due to HRG's 10 year policy, 2008 is the highest we can go in detail. This thread is meant to cover '00s FPS games (2000-2009).
